Information for Specialist Teachers: Applying for a Total Training Package

As a specialist teacher you can train Elklan courses with a Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT). The SaLT takes the lead in running the programme but the teacher is a full partner and works collaboratively at all times.

When you attend an Elklan Total Training Package course you will be given everything you need to teach the accredited course except for the DVD clips (for reasons of consent).

Once you are an Elklan co-tutor you can offer, in conjunction with the SaLT, any of our courses. You don’t need to attend another Total Training Package course. As an Elklan co-tutor you can purchase the additional teaching notes and materials at relatively low cost. This means that you will be offer, in conjunction with the SaLT, all the Elklan courses within your locality.

In some circumstances specialist teachers can be full tutors if they hold relevant postgraduate experience, especially on the course that supports staff working with verbal children with ASD.
